Why Choose J.E.M.A.

Why Small Businesses Trust Kayla McNiff With Their Books

You don't need a distant metro firm billing $300 an hour. You need a dedicated, bank-trained bookkeeper who knows local business and keeps every penny balanced.

Deep Care & Partnership

Relationships, Not Transactions

I don't treat bookkeeping like a task — I treat it like a partnership. I check in, communicate, and stand by small business owners as someone who genuinely wants them to succeed.

Going Above & Beyond

Excellence Over Bare Minimum

I don't stop at 'good enough.' I take pride in immaculate books and thorough checks. Doing more than required is simply who I am because I genuinely care.

The 10 P.M. Shift

Sound familiar?

Every small business hits the same wall: the work you're great at leaves no time for the paperwork that keeps score.

The shoebox of receipts

Every receipt since January waiting for “someday.” Someday is usually April 14th.

Months behind in QuickBooks

You bought the software. It bought you guilt. Uncategorized transactions pile up.

Flying blind on cash flow

You know money came in. You think money went out. Nobody knows your real profit.

Tax-season panic

Your tax preparer asks for clean books. You hand them chaos and pay for every hour of it.

What I Do

Everything your books need.
Nothing you don't.

Straight Answers

Fair questions

How much does a bookkeeper cost compared to a CPA? +

CPA firms commonly bill $150–$400 per hour, and monthly bookkeeping is often their junior work at senior markup. J.E.M.A. Bookkeeping operates on flat monthly rates ($450–$1,050/mo) designed for small businesses. You keep your CPA for high-level tax strategy and save thousands on monthly upkeep.

Is the QuickBooks Online subscription included? +

QuickBooks Online subscription fees are paid directly to Intuit and are separate from bookkeeping management fees. As a ProAdvisor, I will guide you to the exact subscription plan your business needs.

Do I need a bookkeeper or an accountant? +

Both — but for different jobs. A bookkeeper keeps daily transaction records accurate year-round: categorizing income, reconciling bank statements, and issuing monthly reports. An accountant or CPA uses those reconciled records to file tax returns.

Do you work remotely or in person? +

Both! Bookkeeping is managed securely online via QuickBooks Online and read-only bank feeds. For clients in Lincoln, St. Charles, and Pike counties, in-person pickups and sit-down reviews are always available.

How do we get started? +

With a free Books Checkup: a no-obligation review of your financial records. You get an honest assessment of what's clean, what's behind, and a flat quote — whether or not we work together.

Tax season should be a handoff, not a heart attack.

Start with a free Books Checkup. Honest assessment, flat quote, zero pressure — and it's yours to keep either way.
